Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme
"Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme" jointly funded by the Government of India and the State Government, has been in operation since 1994 for the purpose of providing financial assistance in the form of pension to the elderly of the state through the Department of Social Welfare.
Under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme, it is permissible for pension to be provided to eligible elderly persons in the BPL list 2002 of the age group of 60 years or more through their bank accounts in two half-yearly installments at the rate of Rs 300 / - per beneficiary per month. Under the above scheme, from 01.04.2011, eligible beneficiaries in the age group of 60 years to 79 years are being given a pension amount of Rs. 200 / - per month as beneficiary state as Rs. 200 / - per beneficiary center. . Pension amounting to Rs. 500 / - per month per cent beneficiary is being provided by the Government of India as centrality for the beneficiaries in the age group of 80 years or more with effect from 01.04.2011.

Beneficiary Selection Process: -
The beneficiaries are selected through the Gram Panchayat in the rural areas and the Deputy Collector / City Magistrate in the urban area.
The proposal sent by the Gram Panchayat is transmitted to the District Social Welfare Officer, Office through the Block Development Officer Office and after the approval of the proposal received after testing, the pension assistance amount is remitted to the bank account of the beneficiary.
For the purpose of bringing transparency in the implementation of the scheme, verification of the beneficiaries covered under the scheme is done every year in the months of May and June. After verification, the identified deceased and ineligible pensioners are removed from the pension list and new beneficiaries are selected in their place.
